The Satchell Engineering Gearlever kits for the Peugeot 205 is an extremely popular kit for the rally and race. The Satchell Engineering kit completely replaces the standard linkages giving a unique precision thats not found with the standard setup even with rose jointed race versions.

The Satchell Engineering gearlever has two main rods running from the gearlever to control the mechanism. The largest runs underneath the car much like the original parts. The smaller upper bar runs inside the car and a hole cut in the bulkhead for the bar to run into the engine bay. You can download the pdf template here. Print off in 1:1 on A4 paper. Lay the template inside the car and use it to mark where you are cutting.

There are three versions of the Satchell Engineering kit for the Peugeot 205. Two versions are for the XU engined GTI, for either early Peugeot 205 gearboxes with lift up reverse BE1 (BE1/5), or later post 1989 gearboxes with the reverse below fifth BE3 (BE3/5). If you are fitting a Peugeot 306 GTI6 gearbox (BE4/6, BE3/6) then you will need the lift up reverse mechanism. The smaller petrol engined cars such as the Peugeot 205 Rallye and XS use the MA gearbox.

This Satchell Engineering competition gear lever kit (SatchShift) is suitable for all Peugeot 205 models. This Satchshift completely replaces the standard gear lever and gear rods. Using rose-jointed linkages to give more precision with each gear change, this Satchshift kit extends the gear lever to be nearer the steering wheel, making it quicker and easier to get two hands back on the steering wheel. The small rod used in the Satchell Engineering Gear Lever Kit runs inside the cabin leaving the minimum of parts under the car to maximise protection from damage. The Satchell Engineering gear lever kit requires a hole to be cut in the bulkhead and other holes drilling to fit. All parts needed are included with the SatchShift kit. All parts of the SatchShift kit are powder-coated for durability.

This gearlever kit requires the lower dashboard to be removed but there are no clearance problems with the heater / heater matrix. No drilling except for the main hole in the bulkhead is required to fit the Satchell Engineering kit for the Peugeot 205 as the mechanism bolts onto the standard subframe mounting point. These Satchell Gearlevers work with GTI6 engined cars and ones with large race manifolds. We recommend the Satchell Engineering Satchshift to be fitted with stiffer engine mounts to keep unwanted engine movement to a minimum when accelerating or cornering.
