Rounds 5 and 6 at Croft in the 750 Motor Club / K-Tec Clio 182 Championship saw our newly sponsored drivers James Sundler & Simon Donoghue emerge with new Brembo discs + Carbone Lorraine pads as well as a new livery..

Friday had the JJR Racing arriving at an incredibly warm Croft with both cars proudly displaying the new Kam Racing sponsorship as part of the livery. The days testing was challenging due to the heat approaching 30 degrees. This had meant the tyres were only lasting a maximum of 3 laps before they were past their best.

Saturday was a semi-rest day that provided the chance to prepare the cars before an early start for qualifying on Sunday. Both cars struggled to achieve their optimum pace during the qualifying session with car 25 (Simon Donoghue) breaking a gear linkage and car 24 (James Sundler) struggling with car set-up. Final qualifying positions were 12th and 15th respectively (from a field of 28) with only 0.3 seconds between the two cars – showing how close this championship is.

After a brief 1 hour to tend to the cars Race 1 started with both Simon and James getting strong starts and making up positions during the race to achieve 7th and 14th at a circuit which is notoriously easy to defend position. Race 2 saw Simon have a difficult start from 4th on the grid meaning after lap 1 both cars running nose to tail for much of race 2. There was a red flag resulting in restart and the JJR team ultimately finishing 8th and 11th.

Both James and Simon picked up some much needed points but this was still not quite the results that were wanting this weekend. But with both cars standing up well in the (unexpected) heat we move to Brands Hatch (16th and 17th June) with high levels of confidence.

After Rounds 5 and 6, James Sundler sits 10th in the drivers championship with Simon Donoghue fast closing the gap in 12th after his mechanical failure at Oulton Park in Rounds 1 and 2.
